His Power Made Perfect in our Weaknesses

As I have been growing in my faith and diving deeper in His word more, with the help and accountability of close friends, I tend to come across the idea of weakness. If God loves us, then why would He allow us to have weaknesses if they cause us to fall into temptation?
We all have weaknesses. We were born with them, and have developed new ones throughout our lives as we grow and mature. Our weaknesses are often the most sinful areas of our lives. We usually fall into sin the most in the areas in which we struggle the most. For example, someone who struggles with maintaining a healthy diet is most likely not going to struggle with the obsession of getting up at 5:00 am every morning to go on a 10 mile run before work/school. They are more than likely going to struggle with eating the last piece of pizza, or the leftover cake from the party the night before, or even just eating when they shouldn’t be eating.
I’ve noticed (and I know that I’m not the only one so don’t judge me, that’s God's job!😉) that I find myself looking at other people’s weaknesses and get so hooked on how other people screw up, yet never seem to worry about my own weaknesses, which are typically more troublesome than others.
What are the effects of weaknesses? Well, there are a couple. The first of two is that Satan uses them against us. We were given weaknesses, and Satan uses them to tempt us in our most troubling seasons. Our goal is to trust that the Creator of the universe, the Creator of Satan, and the Creator of ourselves will lead us through. The second is for humility. God uses our weaknesses to humble us. I would define humility as “not just putting others before ourselves and laying down arrogance and pride, but to identify as Christ’s Son, and to portray the need we have for Jesus.” I have Type 1 Diabetes, and I can say that my blood sugar often gets out of control, and no longer in my hands. It sometimes feels as if I am doing everything right, but I just keep getting higher and higher or lower and lower. But He is so good to me. Through my trials, He leads me closer to Him, because the only thing I can do is pray and ask God for His wisdom. To tell Him that my blood sugar is in His hands and that whatever is His will, that it would be done. I need to trust Him, for He knows best. “My power is made perfect in weakness”. It’s so obvious. Through His grace, He uses our weaknesses to help draw us closer to Him, and rely on Him and maintain a trust that we could never have in ourselves, instead of trying to overcome them by ourselves. We are weak and He is strong, and we serve a great God with a purpose for our lives.

2 Corinthians 12:9 NIV
“But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest in me.’ Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.”
