Depression is something that is so common in life nowadays. If you haven’t ever experienced depression, then consider yourself blessed, but prepare for it, because it is something that is so hard to get rid of. A few years ago, I went through a period of time where I felt sad all the time, and a little confused. Although at times I felt that there was no way that God could rid me of my depression, He proved me wrong. One of the top symptoms that come with feeling depressed is feeling like no one cares about you, or that no one is listening to you. This is a problem, we are trying to make God sound smaller than He really is. The problem I had during my time of depression was that... I was looking for attention. Not from the people around me, but from God. I was thinking things in hope that He would do said things for me. 1 Peter 5:6 and 7 state, “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you (NIV).” This verse encourages me because it is a reminder that it’s not all about us. When we search for attention, from anyone, we are saying, “me, me” rather than, “You, You”. This is showing pride rather than humility. Humility is vital in our walk with Christ, because if we are putting ourselves above the Creator, then why are we even following Him? As long as we have the mindset of, “whatever is Your will, may it be for Your glory”, then we should have a confidence that it will work out in “due time”. My main point is, has God not delivered you already? Has He not rescued you from death? Why can’t we have the same faith during troubling times that we have during the “good” times? Even at the very worst possible outcome of your depression, God will be given the glory, and I believe that that is 100 percent worth it.
If you struggle/have struggled with depression, I really hope that this somewhat encouraged you. Please message me and let me know if it did so that I can pray for you. Thanks so much for the support!
